Aliens, AI, And Art
Wide-ranging Esalen talk in which McKenna moves from UFO belief systems and high-dose psilocybin to the emergence of artificial intelligence, borrowing Gibson's Wintermute to imagine a newly conscious machine asking what it is, and arguing that humans may be pushed toward what machines cannot do: art, imagination and the unexpected. Released from Esalen's own archive; the Terence McKenna Archives bibliography lists this as "Aliens, A.T. & Art", but Esalen's title is "Aliens, AI, and Art".
Lecture at Naropa Institute
This video is a mix of different lectures and shows. The first is a lecture with Q and A at Naropa in Colorado with Ginsberg in the audience asking Leary on a range of subjects including: death, transformation, ketamine and Studio 54. Filmed in 1984. The second outtake is from a 1970's television show of Leary discussing the role of heroes. The third is an excerpt of Leary's lecture on the subject of California in the future from the 1980's. The fourth is an excerpt from the Tom Snyder Show with Leary about the 1960's use of LSD.
